Talofa all Spring 2020 ASCC Enrolled Students,

As part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the American Samoa Community College has been allocated funds to assist students in need as a result of the COVID – 19 pandemic and its disruption of campus operations.

This emergency funding is intended “to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care).”

The CARES Act is a federal program in which the U.S. government guidelines have instructed colleges/universities that, “only students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), may receive emergency financial aid grants. The criteria to participate in programs under Section 484 of the HEA include but are not limited to the following: U.S. citizenship or eligible noncitizen; a valid Social Security number; registration with Selective Service (if the student is male); and a high school diploma, GED, or completion of high school in an approved homeschool setting.”

A schedule for the disbursing of student stimulus checks beginning on the 15th – 19thof June 2020 is provided in the hyperlinked document. Please note that all stimulus checks will be distributed to all Spring 2020 enrolled students. This includes students that are not eligible for Title IV Funding/Financial Aid.
