6 Week Session

This course, ICT 162, introduces students to the following core networking concepts: operating, configuring, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and other devices across diverse networks, but more importantly, small enterprise networks, with reference to the basic networking knowledge learned in the pre-requisite course, ICT 161 (Networking for Home and Small Business). This course will prepare students for ICND1 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices, Part 1) of the new consolidated CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), a Cisco-recommended path for an IT Networking career. This course focuses on the foundational networking knowledge and basic Cisco device configuration, including:

Network Fundamentals: Understanding TCP/IP models, OSI layers, and data packets.

LAN Switching: Configuring, securing, and operating Cisco Catalyst switches.

Routing: IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and static/dynamic routing.

Infrastructure Services & Maintenance: Managing device security, DHCP, NAT, ACL, and basic troubleshooting.
